Following the June 7, 2024, sighting of the Zil Hajj moon, Pakistan will celebrate Eid-ul-Adha on June 17, 2024. The prime minister has accepted the summary for the 3 Eid holidays. 

According to sources, the official holidays would be between June 17 and June 19. There will also be actually five holidays on Eid-ul-Adha because Saturday, June 15, and Sunday, June 16, are already public holidays.  On Tuesday, the Prime Minister’s Secretariat received a brief from the Cabinet Division outlining the proposed Eid-ul-Adha holidays. The plan called for extending the June 17–19 Eid holidays.  With this prolonged vacation, people will be able to enjoy Eid-ul-Adha with their families and communities without having to rush back to work. 

The Muslim faithful celebrate two Eid celebrations, Eid-ul-Adha and the Feast of Sacrifice.  While remembering Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to offer his son as a sacrifice to God, they commemorated customarily by the killing of animals, the flesh of which is distributed to the underprivileged and family members. Throughout the three days of Eid, the devout slay their sacrificed animals in commemoration of Prophet Ibrahim’s custom. Therefore, there will be public holidays to celebrate the Eid-ul-Adha with dedication and devotion.
