For the matric students of the 2024-2025 session, PCTB has announced significant changes in the matric curriculum in Punjab. Recently, the Punjab curriculum and textbook board have made particular changes in the study scheme. Now, the matric students will have to follow the revised study curriculum for the examination. The Board of Governors of PCTB conducted its 117th meeting on 9th May 2024. Its main objective was to simplify the educational curriculum for matric students to increase the education standard across the Punjab province. The target was all the public and private institutes and Deeni Madaris.

Revised Matric Curriculum 2024

In the recent meeting, PCTB made changes in Pakistan Studies and Islamiyat (compulsory). Now, the students will study both of these subjects in the ninth and tenth classes separately. Below are the details about both classes’ revised academic curriculum.

9th Class Curriculum Adjustments

The revised curriculum, effective from the new session of 2024, has introduced key adjustments for the ninth-class students. Islamiyat was previously split into half for 50 marks in 9th and 50 in 10th. A whole syllabus is included in the 9th class examination, and the total marks will be 100. Moreover, the Pak Study is no longer part of the ninth-class curriculum. These implementations are to make education easy and simpler for the students.

10th Class Curriculum Adjustments

Now, Islamiat is no longer included in the tenth-class curriculum. Instead, the whole Pak study syllabus is included in the tenth class. The students will take the Pak study exam, which is 100 marks. Prior to that, it was taught half in class ninth and half in class tenth. The complete syllabus is part of 10th-class academics. All the students need to follow the revised 10th-class curriculum 2024.

Reasons For Revising Matric Academic Calendar

The choice to update the Matric Scheme of Studies for 9th and 10th grade students is a collective effort to improve the value and relevance of education in Punjab. The authorities plan to offer students a thorough comprehension of Islamiyat and Pakistan Studies by restructuring the matric syllabus in 2024. By decreasing the number of subjects, students will have the opportunity to concentrate on these two mandatory subjects individually.
