The PCTB has released this immediate ban notification. The notification mentions that Nigel Kelly’s book “The History and Culture of Pakistan” is banned for the O-level students in Punjab province. After getting the notification, parents and students are concerned about the decision.
The notification further mentions that “The History and Culture of Pakistan” has not been approved by PCTB to be taught in any institute. It also emphasized that this book is not allowed to be used as a reference, guidebook, textbook, or extra reading material in Pakistan. ‘The History and Culture of Pakistan’ O-level Book Banned
According to the latest PCTB notification, Nigel Kelly’s book is not approved by PCTB. This book was part of the Cambridge O-level course in Pakistan, which is no longer included. Those O-level students studying this book for their current academic year seem worried. This decision is confirmed as PCTB has notified all Officials to stop teaching this book. The publisher is responsible for publishing and selling this banned book, and a criminal complaint has also been filed.
Reason For Banning O-levels Pak Studies Book
The Punjab government banned Nigel Kelly’s book because of some controversial and alleged objectionable content found in the book against Pakistan. The official did not mention the details about the type of content that does not support our moral and religious values.
Lately, it was banned in May of last year. However, after amendments, it was not banned from being taught. This time, the Sociology course book is banned without any information on whether it will be unbanned or not. Until now, there is no news of its editing and changes to add it again in the O-level course.
