August 7, 2024The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PM&DC) has officially announced the MDCAT 2024 date! Like every year, MDCAT 2024 will be a paper-based test held at centers within Pakistan and overseas. The syllabus for MDCAT 2024 will be made available on the official PM&DC website next week. Students are encouraged to start their MDCAT 2024 preparations early. Considering the high volume of interested medical and dental students, PM&DC has also instructed all provincial secretaries to begin preparations for the MDCAT 2024 exam. The MDCAT 2024 test will be conducted on a single day under the supervision of provincial public admitting universities overseen by PM&DC. Student Participation & MDCAT 2024
In the previous year, around 180,534 students participated in the MDCAT examination. This year, the candidate count is projected to increase to roughly 200,000. The PM&DC aims to evaluate the difficulty level of the MDCAT paper to keep it challenging yet equitable, preserving merit throughout all provinces. The test will be conducted by provincial public admission universities under the PM&DC’s oversight. Prof. Dr. Rizwan Taj stressed the council’s commitment to prioritizing students’ bright futures and is working tirelessly to assist them. The PM&DC is committed to promptly making necessary preparations to support prospective medical and dental students.
MDCAT Examination Schedule 2024
The PM&DC has formally declared the MDCAT 2024 examination date in its latest announcement. The MDCAT 2024 examination is officially scheduled for 22nd September 2024 (Sunday). The 2024 MDCAT examination will occur concurrently in all examination centers across Pakistan at 10:00 AM. The MDCAT 2024 examination date and time for international candidates will be specified on their MDCAT admission card. By passing the MDCAT examination, students can secure easy admission to their preferred medical and dental colleges and universities. The scores or results of this year’s MDCAT will remain valid for the next three years.
All provincial secretaries have been instructed to begin preparations for the MDCAT 2024 examination, adhering to strict guidelines and regulations to maintain the integrity and transparency of this year’s MDCAT. Successful completion of the MDCAT test will enable students to secure admission to their chosen medical and dental institutions.
Universities Accepting MDCAT
The written MDCAT 2024 examination will be held concurrently at all Centers/Venues on 22nd September 2024 in various cities across Pakistan. The details of the universities accepting MDCAT and their examination venues are as follows:
- Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University (Based in Islamabad, AJK & International)
- Health Sciences University of Lahore (Located in Punjab).
- Khyber Medical University (Situated in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa)
- Dow Health Sciences University Karachi (In Sindh).
- Bolan Medical & Health Sciences University Quetta, (In Baluchistan).
- Karakoram International University in Konodass, Gilgit Baltistan.
MDCAT 2024 Exam Format
The MDCAT examination will consist of multiple-choice questions, this written test will be administered in English. It will include 200 MCQs, with each MCQ worth one mark. Candidates are required to answer these 200 MCQs within a duration of 2 hours and 30 minutes, and there is no penalty for incorrect answers. Choosing more than one answer for a single question is not permitted. The table below outlines the MDCAT 2024 syllabus, including the total number of MCQs and their respective difficulty levels:

Level of Difficulty
In the MDCAT 2024 examination, 20% of the multiple-choice questions (MCQs) will be simple, 60% will be of an intermediate level, and the remaining 20% will be challenging. Furthermore, 70% of the total MCQs will be based on recall (memory), while 30% will require application or reasoning skills.
Procedure to Apply for MDCAT 2024
The registration process for PMDC MDCAT is crucial for prospective medical and dental students to take their MDCAT exam successfully. To successfully enroll for the PMDC MDCAT test, students must meticulously follow the guidelines below.
- Initially, access the official PMDC website using your laptop or mobile device.
- Next, navigate to the ‘Exams Online’ section and click the “Click Here for MDCAT” button.
- This action will redirect you to a new page where you must register for the PMDC MDCAT portal.
- Submit all your personal details, such as your name, Email ID, contact number, CNIC number, birth date, and so on.
- Next, create a unique password for your account and respond to the reCAPTCHA challenge.
- Lastly, click on the ‘Sign Up’ button.
- Once you’ve registered on the PMDC portal, begin completing your MDCAT 2024 application form.
- Fill in all the required information ( education, nationality, father’s occupation, etc.) and upload all the necessary documents in scanned format.
- Choose your desired city and examination center for the MDCAT exam.
- Then, pay your Nonrefundable/Nontransferable MDCAT registration fee of Rs. 8000/—online using any of the available payment methods.
- Applicants will be required to pay an additional fee for late registration.
- Applicants can download their MDCAT 2024 admit cards at least a week before their exam.
- Applicants are urged to bring their original CNIC and MDCAT entrance cards on examination day.
Guidelines for Selecting MDCAT Exam Centre
Applicants are instructed to select at least one city or exam centre to take the MDCAT Exam. While completing their MDCAT application, candidates can choose their preferred city and MDCAT exam center. Students are recommended to select a city or center closest to their home for convenience. It cannot be edited once a city or exam centre is chosen. The MDCAT will be held at any exam center, provided the number of students who have applied for that center is sufficient.
