The PMDC is inviting medical and dental students from Gaza to finish their courses in Pakistan, according to recent reports from the country’s medical and dentistry community. The PMDC has made this decision for humanitarian reasons, making sure that the difficult conditions in Gaza won’t interfere with the students’ education. In response to the Pakistani High Commissioner’s request in London, the PMDC Council resolved to accept Gazan students into Pakistan’s medical school. With the help of this effort, these Gazan medical and dentistry students will be able to quickly complete their degrees and, when they return, make valuable contributions to the healthcare industry in Gaza.

Special Guidelines For Clinical Rotations 

The Pakistani High Commissioner in London made a request, and the PMDC just responded with a determination. The High Commissioner underlined how important it is to give Gazan students a secure and creative environment. Despite this, foreign students’ clinical rotations were not previously covered by the PMDC regulations. The Council has chosen to grant this on a special request even though PMDC laws do not specifically address foreign students’ clinical rotations. As per the plan, a total of 100 students are anticipated to arrive in groups of 20 to 30 pupils from Gaza. After completing their clinical rotations at Pakistani medical schools and affiliated government teaching hospitals, these students will graduate from Gaza’s universities. 

Establishing a Coordination Committee 

A new committee will be established to guarantee the seamless integration of Gazan students into Pakistani medical schools, hospitals, and institutes. The integration of medical and dental students from Gaza will be supervised by this committee. This committee is led by the PMDC President and consists of officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) and the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations & Coordination (NHSR&C). 

Pakistan’s Medical Education Benefits 

The President of PMDC, Prof. Dr. Rizwan Taj, emphasized the significance of this great project. He said that education in Gaza has slowed down because of recurrent wars and resource shortages, so giving pupils there the chance to learn in a well-equipped atmosphere will be extremely beneficial. These students will return to Gaza with a wealth of knowledge and skills related to medicine from their time spent in Pakistan. It will benefit both the community and the healthcare system.
